The process of aging is a development process at a high complexity level. It concerns all age categories in a population. In the process of aging, proportion of the elderly grows, motivating change in design of the social sphere, in formal and informal social care. It is estimated that 13% of seniors need help at home, 7-8% need systematic care, and 5% of them need institutional care. In 2014, the mean life expectancy at birth was 73 years for men and 80 years for women. Aging is associated with further specific phenomena in economic development (aging workforce), health care, and particularly financial sustainability of the pension system. Quality of life in old age is also affected by the quality of social networks. Their absence leads to social exclusion and loneliness. According to qualitative surveys, loneliness is one of the most serious concerns of the elderly. Loneliness starts and worsens the course of pathological phenomena associated mainly with older age, manifested in mental and physica.
